Bye 2008

In a few hours, we are going to say Bye Bye to Year 2008 and welcome Year 2009. Looking back, there have been a few changes in my life and I hope Year 2009 will be a better year for everybody. Here’s what I wish for in Year 2009.

- DS continue to be happy and healthy
- DS to put on some weight and grow taller
- DS to enjoy his new school life

As for me, I wish to have:
- A big fat bonus and salary increment *Dream on*
- Able to scale to a new height in my career or at least still have a career
- Spend more time with my family
- Wish for a number 2 (provided I can change my DH mindset first. Hahaha)
- More $$, good health and stay young

However, I think the most impt is to wish for the people around me to be safe, happy and healthy. Enjoy Year 2009. Cheers!!

Christmas celebration

Christmas was spent at my eldest sis place as it was her turn to hold our annual Christmas gathering. Sister ordered our lunch from Gelare and the food was yummy esp. the seafood pasta *Two thumbs up*. However, DS just don’t like the pasta and he managed to eat some pie and ham instead. DS was so happy playing with his cousin toys that even when I tried feeding him the ice-cream log cake, he just refused to eat and continue with his playing.

Soon, it was gift exchange session. DS this year has got two new sets of car toys series. As for me, I got a set of toiletries and a hand cream from my sisters (hope they like my gift too). We stayed till 4pm plus before proceeding to my SIL for another round of gift exchange session and makan session. This time round, our family received chocolates and for DS, he got himself a new book and a pack of flash cards. As DS had not have any nap earlier on, we decided to leave at around 10pm plus. I think DS had to much fun on that day as he kept having dreams and cried throughout the whole night which means I ended up with panda eyes the next day I went to work..

25th Milestone

DS is now 25th mth already and below are his little ‘achievement’ till date:

- Loves singing “Thomas and his friend” when he played with the train
- When you asked him “Where is mummy?” DS will reply “Mummy work work”
- Able to climb up and down the stairs without support
- Counts 1 – 10 in English and Chinese though his Chinese counting pronunciation is not so accurate.
- Recognize # as Okto icon as shown on TV (*faint* coz proof that he is true TV fanatic)
- Able to say and understand some simply Chinese and Hokkien language
- Able to jump with both his feet lifting the ground.
- Sleep without his pacifer
- Loves singing and dancing

DS now weighs around 12kg. Of course, he is still considered small built compare to his peers but PD said his weight is still ok. DS will be going to his playgroup soon in about 2 weeks plus. Can’t wait for him to start school and learn more things from there.

Sleeping without pacifier

After reading that Shannen & Ah Zheng are now able to sleep w/o their pacifier, it motivate me to try again and wane off Jayden this habit since we have tried previously without success. I am happy to announce that DS have been sleeping for the past 5 nights (05/12/08 – 09/12/08) w/o his pacifier and I hope he can continue to do so *Well-done boy* . Although, I can sense that he is still looking for the pacifier in the middle of the night but I have to ignore his cries and pat or rock him back to sleep.
Hope he can forgot about his pacifier and able to sleep soundly without his pacifier soon.

Sesame Street show

After reading from Ah Zheng blog on how interesting is the show, I told DH that we should bring DS to Marina Square to watch it too since yesterday (07/12/08) was the last performing show. So after DS woke up from his dreamland at 11am plus, we quickly got him ready hoping that we are able to make it for the 1pm show. But due to heavy traffic on the road, by the time we reached there, we only catch a glimpse of elmo before it ended. We could see DS was a bit sad so I told DH that we would have our lunch first and then queue for the 4pm show as the organizer said that queue would formed about 2pm plus.
We settled our lunch at the foodcourt and after that DH volunteered to stand in the queue so that I can bring DS for shopping first. So I brought DS to the kids play area to sit on those kiddy rides and before we knew it, DH asked us to come and joined him as they will be issuing the pass soon. Really glad that we managed to get the photo taking pass and our sitting view was good too.
At first, DS was quite distracted as he wanted to walk around but once, the show started, he began to enjoyed himself by dancing and singing and the moment Elmo appeared, he simply love him lor..Kept waving at him. Think DH effort for standing in the queue for 2hours did not come to a waste..kekeke. Anyway, after the show, it was photo-taking session but the guy who took the photo for us did not did a good job as the photo turns out blur *sad* But nevermind, since we got the chance to be up-close with Elmo.
After everything ended, we decided to proceed to my MD place @ Valley Park for the BBQ session as the sky was turning dark. DS was so tired that he fell asleep in the car again and luckily, there is a sofa at the function hall so that DS can continue his sleep while I help out with the preparation. Just when we got everything started, we began to feel the raindrops so we just have to bring everything to the function hall again and have dinner there. Luckily, the drizzling stop shortly and we carried all the stuff again back to the barbeque pit again to start our BBQ again. But naughty DS just refused to let us eat, he kept wanting to run here and there so we brought him to the playground to play for a while.
The night ended with our gift exchange session and I got a purple Esprit wallet and DS got himself a VCD which consist of Barney, Bod the Builder, Thomas & Friend and another character whom I don't know.. We left the place around 10pm plus and I was already very very tired.

Melting Pot Cafe @ Holiday Inn Hotel

I'm so full...Just came back from our buffet dinner @ Melting Pot Cafe which is located at Holiday Inn Hotel. Actually, per person is $30something++ but we got two complementary dinning vouchers so our family gets to dine for free (children below 5 is free).
At first, I wanted to let DS have his nap before we went out but DS just refused to sleep and he cried so much that he vomitted out all his lunch..so ended up, DS have to shower again and we decided that we should just leave the hse earlier even though the buffet dinner starts at 6.30pm. We were just roaming around that area when we saw some cars on display so DS just went around each car asking me to take photos for him *Faints*.
After DS phototaking session, we proceed to have our dinner. The spread variety is still ok and the food is not bad too..but what I like is the ambience as they have a 'Live' band to create the cozy feel. However, after DS finished his dinner, he was very grouchy and the moment DH carried him, DS fell asleep immediately and so we stayed there for a while before heading home. On our way back, we bypass Orchard Road and DS woke up just in time to see those lovely Christmas deco. Tomorrow is going to be a busy night too as we will be going to our MD place for BBQ plus gift exchange ;p

Mount Faber Park (29/11/08)

DH decided that since I wanted to do some Christmas shopping for our company gift exchange, we should go to Vivocity for my shopping spree (as there are many shops there). So off we went at around 3plus (since now DS refused to take his afternoon nap anymore) but on the way, DH saw the sign that shows the road to Mount Faber and suggested that we would go and take a look first. So off we went to Mount Faber Park and it was such a long walk from where we park our car…but it was really nice and scenic once we reached the peak. DS also have a fun time running around the park and it is there that DS started to climb up and down the flight of stairs himself without holding to anyone or anything. *well-done boy*

After resting and photo taking, we decided to walk down slowly to our car and DH then suggested to go to Tiong Bahru Plaza for dinner as it was already 5plus and since I have applied for the Thai Express card, we decided to have dinner there again. Just as we were back to go home, I saw a perfect gift for my colleague and 1 gift settled *happy coz did not went home empty handed* As DS did not take his nap earlier on, he slept all the way throughout our journey home…Here's some of the picture On our way up to the park DS posing for the camera Taken with DS DS loves walking round the park DS and a mini merlion Taking a break Dinner Time

Fun day in the park (23/11/08)

DS woke up ard 7 plus in the morning and started to ‘disturb’ me. But I ignored him and continued my sleep till an hour later to prepare milk for him. I then suggested to DH to bring DS to Pasir Ris Park playground as the weather was good and we haven’t been there for quite some time already. So after all the packing of our barang barang, we managed to leave the hse at 9am plus and reached there close to 10am.

DS loves the playground there because he gets to play the slide, swing, see-saw etc. After a while, we decided to take a stroll at the beach but DS wanted to go to the sea to play instead. So no choice, got to leave for Downtown East to have our lunch and redeem DS free kiddy train ride. After our yummy lunch at Mr. Chicken Rice, we went to redeem two tickets for train ride and DS of course likes sitting in the train and turning the steering wheel. We did not roamed around Downtown East as we were rushing back home because DS will be having his trial class at Seimpi Music School @ Hougang Mall with Rayden later in the afternoon.

So home we went and DS was so tired that he doze off while sitting beside me and even when we reached home, he was still sleeping soundly and I was so worried that he would not wake up on time. Luckily, after half an hour, he managed to wake up on his own and I quickly shower him before we left the house again. Reached there earlier than Shannen (for once) and I quickly went upstairs to register and pay the fees ($35) but due to a bit of miscommunication, we nearly couldn’t join in the clas. Luckily everything was sorted out and DS was so eager to go to the classroom. As there were many keyboards around, I had a hard time trying to get DS to sit still but once the teacher started singing, DS quickly join in and even DH who stood outside to peep, commented that DS seems to enjoyed himself very much. After all the singing, the teacher gave out some ice-cream sticks to all students for the theory lesson but DS just refused to follow the instruction and only interested in playing with the sticks (Rayden was such a good boy though as he can sit quietly with Shannen).

Shortly after, the teachers proceed with the practical lesson and the keyboard again distracted DS from concentrating and he just refused to follow my instruction. However the moment the teacher came, DS behaved himself again but since DS have not started school yet, I reckon that he still have no basic concept on what to expect in classes (eg, to follow teacher instruction, sit still etc). Anyway, he will have plenty of time to learn..Hahaha. After classes, we roamed around the mall for a while before we went to PIL place for dinner again. What a busy Sunday!! Pics of the day..

A fun filled Sat – 15/11/08

Anthea called me up ard noon and asked me if we wanted to go to Vivo city with 2nd sis and family but since we couldn’t drive our car yet, Sis offered to come over to pick us up. As we all have not had our lunch, we decided to eat at MacDonald and DS was also happily eating the fries with us. Proceed to do more shopping (plus phototaking session) and also at the same time, let the kiddos have their fun at the outdoor playground. After all the playing, DS was already very tired but he still refused to sleep and still continued his fun at the arcade.

As it already near dinner time, we decided to go to Redhill market for our dinner but DS fell asleep on our way there and so when we reached there, he was super grouchy but still managed to finish half a bowl of porridge. After our sumptuous dinner, BIL drove us back and once back home, DS became energetic again and slept only at around 11pm plus.

Birthday Celebration

DS turns two on 14/11/08. Actually, my original plan is to bring DS to sit on the Ducktour but due to previous bad experience at the sea, I decided to bring DS for makan and shopping. So off we went to Suntec in the afternnon but DS was again sleeping inside his pram. We went to the food exhibition to take a look and ended up buying some stuff back. Also, went to the book exhibition to buy DS a few writing and colouring books, as he will be starting school soon.

After that, we proceed to P.S and have Thai Express for dinner. Dinner was good and so was their service. The staff kept playing with DS and after knowing it was his birthday that day, they even sang him a birthday song (So sweet). After dinner, we proceed to Centerpoint as we wanted to buy him a “Thomas & Friend” train set. Just happened that Robinson was having 20% storewide so it was a good buy and DS got to choose something that he liked. Finally, its home sweet home around 9pm…

Double Birthday Celebration – 09/11/08

Event 1 – Birthday Celebration @ TPY

Since DS woke up at around 8am plus and we decided to go to TPY home earlier to wait for our buffet spread of Nasi Lemak and Popiah. We wanted to collect our Swensen’s ice cream cake on our way but since it was drizzling so we decided to bring DS up home first to play with his cousin. After DS warmed up with them, DH and I sneaked out to collect the cake at Entertainment Center and during the short period, I still managed to buy two T-shirt for DS.

After collecting of cake, we went back home and everybody was already there and waiting for the food. Luckily, the food came shortly and we started our delicious lunch (Food was good and so was the family gathering). Since we were going to visit my cousin place later in the afternoon, my sis and I decided to do the cake cutting session right after lunch. The two little birthday boys (their birthday is only 3 days apart) were so excited upon seeing their cake and can see they enjoyed themselves very much. Since everybody was still very full from the lunch, they cut only DS ice cream cake first and eat as a desert.

We decided to proceed to my cousin hse @ Simei to see baby Arthur (less than 3mths old), and he is such a darling (reminds me of DS when he was a baby). We left their hse after spending one hour there and it was back to TPY to pick up our stuff and to go to AMK for round 2.

Event 2 – Birthday Celebration @ AMK

DS was simply exhausted that the moment we drive off from TPY to AMK, he slept immediately in the car. So DH went to collect the cake himself while we waited in the car. Reached PIL place and he was still sleeping soundly. After 2hours plus of nap, DS woke up and was playing with his uncles, aunties, cousin etc and after dinner, it was another round of cake cutting session. However, this time no candles were lighted as FIL said that cannot blow candles twice. So everyone just sang DS birthday songs and eat the cakes. Glad that everybody finds the cake nice. It was indeed a tiring and long day for our family.

P.S. Thanks for all the presents, ang pows and the well wishes..

Tree Planting & Nov birthday Bash – 02/11/08

Since DS have recovered from his seasick motion, decided to bring him along to our Company tree planting event at Sengkang Riverside Park. However, when it was time to leave the hse, DS was still sleeping very soundly so I told DH that I would just attend the event myself. After finishing planting my tree, DH called and said that he have arrived with DS. So quickly walked to the main road to join them and also roamed around the mini carnival there. Shortly after, we went back to my company tent for photo taking session and also to collect our lunch. As it was scorching hot that day, we decided to go back home and enjoyed our lunch instead.

After lunch, we all decided to have our afternoon nap since we will be attending the Nov birthday bash at one of the forum mummies place later in the evening . At first, I was quite worried as it was raining very heavily but luckily the rain stopped just as we were about to leave the hse. DH drove me to buy the famous Jalan Kayu otah and after buying, we quickly rushed over to the party venue but we lost our way and luckily, Zhen DH managed to direct us to the correct street and we finally found the correct way *Ended up, actually DH close friend also stayed at the condo*

When we reached there, most of the families were already there and I so happy to see the mummies and kiddos ago again. There were two new families whom I just known and met at the gathering but didn’t get to chat with them as I was busy feeding DS his dinner. For DS, he was busy playing with the toys and also watching TV. Soon, it was cake cutting session and we let DS wore the party hat. He simply loved the hat and also the cake singing session. Last but not least, we did the gift exchange and DS got himself books and also jigsaw puzzle. We left around 9pm and our family really ourselves at the birthday bash. *Thanks Zhen & DH for organizing and the hard work*

Batam Trip – 27/10/08

Brought DS to his first overseas trip and we went over to Batam with DH & family. So a total of 20plus people went to the day trip. I woke up at 5plus in the morning to start preparing DS barang barang (boiled hot water, bring cold water etc) and after I have finish, woke DH and DS. We tried to give DS his first milk feed but maybe because it was too early so ended up DS vomited everything and we have to rush to bath DS and also do the cleaning up. Reached PIL place at 7am and everybody was waiting for us.. so without further delay, we set off to HabourFront to board the ferry at 8am.

Aboard the ferry, DS was quite happy at first but maybe he woke up too early, he started to doze off half way through the 45mins journey. Finally reached Batam and DS was so cute..he saw those custom officer in uniform and he even salute to them. So after we got through the custom clearance, we boarded a bus to start our sight seeing tour.

First, we went over to a bridge that was supposing to be a landmark in Batam. Our tour guide allowed us to go down to take pics but the moment we got down the bus, we were swarmed by sellers trying to sell their wares. Ended up, we just brought a rattle toy for DS as he was fascinated by it. Just as we were happily taking pics, DS started to vomit and he dirtied his clothes. Brought him up the bus to rest but sad to sad, throughout the trip, he was still vomiting very badly (so didn’t have mood to take pics). Moreover, DH was having seasick too so couldn’t help much to take care of DS. So throughout the trip, me & DS were confined in the bus as others was happily eating, shopping etc.

Things got better in the evening, when we went to our last stop at a shopping mall. DS looked slightly better and was playing again. As I didn’t want to go home empty ended, decided to buy DS a pair of jeans and also a polo tee for myself. Remaining money was spent on Doughnuts, food and tips for the tour guide and bus driver. Soon, it was time for us to board the ferry back to home. The journey back was much worse and the sea was rough thus the ride was very bumpy. *Poor DS vomited again*

Overall, we didn’t enjoyed ourself at all (as the whole family ended up sick) and doctor said that DS have suffered from seasick thus kept vomiting. Think our next family trip will have to travel by air..*Hopefully soon*

Collection of passport.

Hmmm..have got this entry on my computer for such a long time but yet I forgotten to post it up..In the end, still decided to post it up just for memory purposes (for future use)..So more back-dated entries to come..hahaha.

Finally we got DS his passport and we collected it on Sat (18/10/08) at the ICA Building. Made an appointment at 11.30am but still we have to wait for about half an hour before we can collect it. After that, we went for lunch at the market before we walked over to Kandahar Street to buy 2 rolls of delicious Kaya cake. As it was closed to DS nap time, we decided to shop around Bugis Junction so that it will be cooler for DS to sleep in his pram. However, DS was so distracted by the surrounding that he just didn’t want to sleep at first but while DH was buying clothes for himself, DS finally slumbered into his dreamland. So we continue our shopping at BHG as they will have 20% storewide sales. Brought a longer bolster , bolster case x 3 and 2 tumbler for DS.
After a while, DS woke up from his nap and since it was drizzling outside, we decided to have a quick bite at The Soup Spoon but DS doesn’t like the Mushroom Soup that I have ordered, instead he preferred my wrap instead. Waited for the rain to stop and we walked all the way from Bugis to Plaza Singapura. Wanted to buy something from JL as they will have 20% sales for card members too but me and DH forgotten to bring out our cards so no choice, we just roam ard PS. As the weather was cold, decided to eat Korean Ramen at the foodcourt nearby PS. After my hearty dinner, its home sweet home again.

First Birthday Present

Went out to Punggol last night to collect DS advance birthday present from a friend..DS was so excited about his new toy (Megablock toy car set) that upon reaching home he kept asking me to open up the toy for him to play, but I intend to open only on his actual birthday so now he can see, look and touch nia.... Hahaha.

P.S.: Thank you my dear friend for the lovely present. Hope to meet up with you & your xiao baobei soon. Pics will be posted soon

23th Month Milestone

Wow..my baby is really no longer a baby liao (but, when you asked DS his name, he will reply ‘baby’) , 1 more mth to go and he will turn 2. At 23th mth, he is of course more mischievous, he knows how to do a lot of funny facial expression and he is able to understand instructions better. He knows that when I take the cane out, he must behave else he will get a beating (of course, now he still haven’t kena wacked but if he’s really naughty, I wouldn’t hesitate to cane him coz I know spare the rod, spoilt the child).

I wouldn’t be holding a party for him this year but will be having mini celebration for him instead. First, will be held on 02/11/08 (Sun), which is organized by Nov forum mummies. I haven’t been in touch with some of them and I really look forward for the gathering. Then on 09/11/08 (Sun) afternoon, my sis and I will celebrate our kiddos birthday together since both kiddos birthday are only 3 days apart. After that, I will need to buy another cake to bring to PIL place to celebrate again at night. DS will need to blow the candles 3 times….Then on DS actual birthday, DH & I will bring him out for some fun.. Hope DS will have fun and like all the arrangement I have for him.

Whole Family is Sick

Oh no..This week is a lousy week for us..The reason? Me, DH and DS have been sick since Monday. I have got bad flu, cough and lots of phlegm. DS have got fever (which luckily have subsided), running nose, cough with phlegm. DH also have got phlegm and chest pain. ~OMG~ The virus is in attacking all of us and making us sick.
Brought DS to see PD twice this week and also visit our family GP, total medical bill for DS this week: $212. However, just hopes that this amount paid will let my DS recover faster and get stronger. His weight drops again. Last Sat his weight was 11.2kg, then yesterday when we brought him to PD, it was 10kg. So he lost a total of 1.2kg within 5 days!! So heartache to see him sick and slim down again. Pray hard for DS, DH and myself for speedy recovery.

To the beach

Since the weather was good, we decided to bring DS to the beach for some fun..So after DS breakfast, we quickly bath him and off we went to East Coast park. We also invited SIL & family to join us too since more people = more fun. We reached there first so off we went to play the sand and water. At first, when I took off his shoes to let his little feet touch the sand, he just refused and kept asking me to put on his shoes. But we quickly let him played with the water and he enjoyed it so much that he forgotten about his shoes..

SIL and BIL came shortly and they played with DS and even tried to built a sandcastle. However, the afternoon sun is just too hot for us to continue playing and so off to Mac for lunch (along the way, I brought a float from one of the stall there and so I think I will be bringing DS for his swim soon). After lunch, DH wanted to ride bicycle but I was against it as it was way too hot. Ended up, we went to Parkway for a shopping trip but DS was so grouchy as he was already very tired.. He slept all the way from East Coast to my MIL place at AMK...

Mid-Autumn Festival

So how do we celebrate this day? We have a gathering at my sister home. Though, it was not really to celebrate this festival as this is more of a get-together, but still I always love being with my sisters and playing with my niece and nephew.

DS is also 22th mth old on 14/09/08. Very happy that he can now do that proper ‘good’ action. Last time, whenever you asked him to do the ‘Good’ sign, he will response by pointing his index finger but now he can close all his little fingers leaving only the thumbs up. Also, now when he see his papa car and you asked him “Whose car’, his answer will be “Papa’s car”… He can also pronounce “Watch” very clearly when he see it. Overall, I think his progress (motor and speech) is still ok ba..but of course, compare to some of my friends child, he still got a long way to go. However, I am happy with the pace he is now the most impt thing is that, I want him to grow up happily and have a wonderful childhood.

Thumbs-up

Trip to Chinatown

Last Saturday, after DS nap at around 4pm plus, we went down to Chinatown to see Mid Autumn Lighting at Chinatown. We walked all the way from Suntec to Chinatown as we wanted to go to Singapore River as well.. Wanted to find my fav. Restaurant near Boat Quay but couldn’t find it anymore so ended up, we have dinner at Chinatown food center. After dinner, we walked along the streets to see lighting but were surprised to see that the road was closed for ppl to take a stroll. So we took some pics and as we walked further up, we could hear some lion dance music and true enough there was lion dance performance ahead.

We wanted DS to take pics with the lion dance troupe but he was so scared (Timid boy) that he grabbed DH real tight lor… Hahaha. Anyway, we walked with the crowd towards Central Shopping Mall and from there we walked towards Clarke Quay as there is a fountain whereby DS can watch children playing there. To reward DS good behavior, we brought him Japanese Green Tea ice-cream from Marina Square which he loves it very much..After eating, its home sweet home again.
